About Sleep in Silk
My name is Elisabeth Hebbe – home is Skäggebol farm in western Värmland, Sweden where I was born and grew up. I left home at quite a young age but always dreamed of one day returning to my childhood home. A dream that became reality a number of years ago.
I started Sleep in Silk at a time in life when I was looking for a change. I dreamed of having a job that could be combined with home and family.
At the same time, an old friend of mine was working as an anthropologist in Vietnam. On a trip home to Sweden in 1998 he brought with him a number of travel products in silk. They were fantastic products – good quality and practical. Not to mention the fact that silk is extremely comfortable.
I was convinced I was not the only one who would be delighted with these lightweight travel products. The question was, did I dare to start selling them here in Sweden? It would give me the chance to work from my home on the farm – a wonderful thought.
I took up the challenge and with the help of my friend travelled to Vietnam and made contact with a serious and skilled family. We agreed to work together and from that moment Sleep in Silk was alive!
And my hunch was right. People are delighted with our pure silk products. Our lightweight travel products sell like hotcakes. A growing number of customers are discovering our family company which is largely run on a post order basis from our office on the farm. Just as I dreamed of all those years ago.
Over the years, many people have contacted us and wanted to come and see our products for themselves.
Which led to us opening a boutique in the old milk chamber in the barn. It’s well worth a visit if you’re up this way. The location couldn’t be more beautiful, especially during the Swedish summer. And here you can touch, feel and enjoy our full range of products in beautiful, practical silk.
